SafeguardingSafeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people at Kings is considered everyone’s responsibility and as such our College is committed to create the safest environment within which every student has the opportunity to achieve and succeed. We expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
We recognise the contribution safeguarding can make in ensuring that your child feels that they will be listened to and appropriate action taken. We will do this by endeavouring to work in partnership with other agencies and seek to establish effective working relationships with parents, carers and other colleagues to develop and provide activities and opportunities throughout the curriculum that will help to equip your child with the skills they need. All staff, governors and volunteers who work with students receive training in safeguarding, including e-safety every 3 years. Any newly appointed staff to the College are trained as part of their induction programme. Your child is our priority and we have legal duties to safeguard and promote their welfare and well-being. We expect parents/carers to tell us about family or external issues that might impact upon your child’s attendance, welfare or well-being. We ask that you recognise that we may need to share information with other agencies, where this is essential to safeguard your child. Managing allegations against an adult If an allegation is made against an adult in a position of trust whether they be members of staff or volunteers this should be brought to the immediate attention of the Headteacher. In the case of the allegation being made against the Headteacher this will be brought to the attention of the Chair of Governors. The nature of the allegation is discussed with the nominated Governor and/or Headteacher and the Local Authority Designated Officer (LADO) and action taken where necessary. The College’s Child Protection & Safeguarding Policy and E Safety Policy can be found on the website and reference is made to these policies in our prospectus. Contact Our Designated Safeguarding Lead is Mrs Luhman and the Deputy DSL is Miss Houghton. The E-Safety co-ordinator is Mrs Luhman. The Designated Governor for Safeguarding is Mr Paul Jackson.
