Personal Development Day

Posted on: 02/10/2026

This week all students enjoyed a day of discovery, challenge and inspiration as they took part in the Personal Development Day.

Our Personal Develop Days happen 5 times a year, and are designed to enrich learning beyond the classroom, providing all our students with experiences to broaden their horizons, raise aspirations and build confidence.

The day saw students participate in a diverse programme of activities, with opportunities tailored to different year groups: from scientific investigations and employer engagement to educational trips and insightful talks. Highlights included hands-on experiments, a trip to Warner Bros. Studio, a bushcraft experience and filmmaking.

For our year 11 students, the 'Big Interview' programme was organised, enabling them to prepare for future employment by experiencing realistic interview situations and receiving feedback from industry professionals. Students met and spoke with employers from a range of sectors, including aviation, healthcare and construction, gaining valuable insights into different career pathways and the skills required to succeed within them. A key activity for the day was a talk from Mr Beezy, an international motivational speaker.

Our Personal Development Days reflect Kings’ commitment to the Bourne Education Trust’s Guarantee: ensuring that every student benefits from the same enrichment opportunities, and experiences learning that extends far beyond the academic curriculum. By providing access to a range of experiences, we continue to create opportunities for our students to grow, develop key life skills and help them realise their full potential.

Jennie Morgan, Personal Assistant to the Headteacher and organiser of the day said:

"Personal Development Day is all about giving students opportunities to experience something new, challenge themselves and discover potential future pathways. Whether through meeting employers, visiting world-class attractions, taking part in practical scientific activities or working on creative projects together, these experiences enrich learning and help prepare our students for the future."
