Everyone in the maths department is passionate about their subject. We aim to develop in our students a love and curiosity of mathematics and for them to be able to tackle mathematical problems in a competent and confident manner. By participating in mathematical competitions at school, locally and nationally we hope to encourage their interest in this subject even further. The students at Kings have a very positive outlook on mathematics.
In Years 7 and 8 all students follow a programme of study that covers number, algebra, geometry and measure, ratio, proportion and rates of change, statistics and probability. In Year 9 these areas are developed further and we commence the GCSE programme of study. Our schemes of work have been designed to comprehensively cover the content of the new curriculum and meet the demands of the challenging GCSE exams.
