Curriculum

Our Curriculum

From the very first day that a child begins life at Kings, we intend that their curriculum is:

  • Ambitious, so that every child is challenged.
  • Coherent and well planned, so that new learning builds on prior learning.
  • Adapted, designed and developed, so that it meets the needs of all our learners.
  • Broad and balanced, so that all pupils experience all subjects for the time needed to develop mastery of a subject.
  • Engaging, so that pupils develop a passion for learning and a desire to attend school.

Through our curriculum, we aim to deliver a broad and balanced educational experience. To ensure that this is implemented, our curriculum has the following characteristics:

  • 50 period timetable over two weeks.
  • Hour long lessons, with some double lessons at GCSE e.g. Food Technology.
  • Pupils complete up to 10 GCSEs, with some pupils given the opportunity to extend this e.g. GCSE in their first language.
  • All pupils study two languages in Year 7.
  • Opportunity for pupils in Year 8 to select a Performing Arts pathway.
  • Four option choices at key stage 4 to retain breadth but enable depth of study.
  • Vocational options available at Farnborough College of Technology.
  • A strong enrichment programme, including the option to study HPQ (Higher Project Qualification).
